Windows 11 is the worst operating system ever created by Microsoft and it keeps getting worse as they pile more and more AI garbage on top of it. Either way I unfortunately still have to use it on a daily basis for some of my work, so here I will give some tips on how I set it up to make it a tiny bit more bearable.

Of course if you are going to install this operating system, NEVER install the regular release. Microsoft may call one of its editions Professional, but it's all but that. The only edition that is remotely useful is <a href="https://drive.massgrave.dev/en-us_windows_11_iot_enterprise_ltsc_2024_x64_dvd_f6b14814.iso" class="urlextern" title="https://drive.massgrave.dev/en-us_windows_11_iot_enterprise_ltsc_2024_x64_dvd_f6b14814.iso" rel="ugc nofollow">Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024</a>, anything else is just AI-filled garbage.

I live in the terminal, and since Windows 10 Microsoft introduced one the best terminal emulator that Windows has even seen (not a high bar), <a href="https://github.com/microsoft/terminal" class="urlextern" title="https://github.com/microsoft/terminal" rel="ugc nofollow">Windows Terminal</a>. Sadly only the regular version of Windows 11 comes with this application pre-installed. In order to install it we might as well get WinGet while we are at it.

<a href="https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/iot-enterprise/deployment/install-winget-windows-iot" class="urlextern" title="https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/iot-enterprise/deployment/install-winget-windows-iot" rel="ugc nofollow">Microsoft provides a guide</a> on how to install WinGet and its associated applications under the LTSC editions of Windows. After WinGet is installed all you need to do to get Windows Terminal is run <code>winget install Microsoft.WindowsTerminal</code>.
